There have been many symbols used throughout history to identify a group, place or people. These symbols are very important and in many instances are the first images brought to mind when certain people or products are mentioned. Who doesn't picture in their mind an over-zealous, early-rising tiger named Tony shouting, "They're GREAT!" when Frosted Flakes are mentioned. Of course when you think about school mascots, there are many that come to mind. You have Brutus the Buckeye, Zippy the Kangaroo (for all of you University of Akron fans), and lets not forget about the hometown favorite in Massillon, Obie. The real question is what makes these mascots so memorable? Is it just the fact that they are interesting characters or is it the fact that they have a name? If you ask anyone in Youngstown about Pete, they immediately know you're talking about Pete the Penguin, the mascot of the Youngstown State Penguins. The name Obie is synonymous with the Massillon Tigers. Yes, all of these mascots have one thing in common. They all have a name. So what about MCS? Does the Charger mascot need a name? Tell us what you think of the NEW Massillon Christian School seal, the updated Charger Mascot and whether or not you think the new mascot deserves a new name.
