Dancing with the Medina Stars

Al Matyas, VP of Ambulatory Operations & Business Development at Southwest General, lives in Strongsville with his wife Kimberly. He is an amateur astronomer, photographer, bourbon collector. Al is also active in church and community groups as well as the Chairman of the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance.

Maia Matyas is a Medina resident & Al’s daughter, working as a Family Medicine Physicians Assistant at Southwest General. She fell in love with dance after taking a line dancing course during her studies at Baldwin Wallace University and solidified her boot scootin’ capabilities in Nashville, TN while completing her Master’s Degree at Lipscomb University. She shares that some of her earliest memories include dancing as a child, standing on top of her father’s feet while he danced around the room. And, now they get to spin on the dance floor as the sole father-daughter pair.

Kyle, from Cleveland, grew up working in restaurants and has since even opened not just one, but two separate businesses of his own! One of which being the Human Bean Brunswick, where he works with his longtime girlfriend, Hannah Ashley.  Outside of work, Kyle enjoys watching sports (particularly football), spending time with friends & family and date nights with Hannah.

Hannah, from Akron, moved with Kyle to Brunswick, in pursuit of opening their coffee shop, the Human Bean Brunswick. Hannah & Kyle met at a restaurant where Kyle once worked at. In her freetime Hannah enjoys cooking new and exciting recipes, spending time with her family and adorable cat, Moose, and of course, date nights with Kyle. She is so excited to show off her and Kyle’s new moves at this year’s Dancing with the Medina Stars! 

Sasha Villimonovic and her husband, Mike, have lived in Valley City for 13 years.  Their 7yr old son is in the first grade at Buckeye Elementary. Sasha’s mother-in-law lives with them and they care for her full-time. Sasha was a hair stylist for over 13 years prior to opening KMS Beauty Lab in 2021.  A graduate from the Hair Designer Program at Brown Aveda Institute, she acquired professional training and techniques in hair cutting and styling. Sasha invests in extensive education as part of her growth and development by attending annual trainings. She is thankful she is a part of Dancing With the Medina Stars – as she loves raising money and helping her community in any way she can in her free time and behind the salon chair.

Brandy Hughes, from the Old Brooklyn area of Cleveland, calls Brunswick her home and share 2 adult children with husband, Brad and their dog Ruhe. As the Business Assistant & Bookkeeper of Cornerstone Organizational Partners, she is the founder and operator. She is the treasurer of the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance Executive Committee, a board member of the Ambassador Committee and Business at the Barn Committee. Brandy is a graduate of Leadership Medina County’s 2022 LEAD Program. She enjoys crocheting and spending time in her yard. As a serial entrepreneur, she does not stay still for long!

Christie Green, from Brunswick, is the Business Development Manager for MDG Flooring America & KIBA Studios in Medina. She is very active in the community as a member of the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance, facilitating the connections 4 Networking Group, secretary of the Medina County Chamber Charities Board and is a 2023 graduate of the LEAD program through Leadership Medina County. Christie stays very active with her 4 children – from marching band, color guard, orchestra, dance, and golf. In her spare time she enjoys golf outings with friends.

Kimberly Corrigan raised her family in Chatham Twp., and is blessed with 3 wonderful children and is the extremely proud Oma (grandmother) to 4 of the world’s best grandchildren as she states. Oldest of 10 children, she has been the administrator/Executive Director of Pearlview Rehab & Wellness Center for over 11 years. She has a degree in Accounting & Business Admin from Kent and holds a masters in Business & Healthcare Administration from Baldwin Wallace. She is a graduate of Leadership Medina County’s 25^th Anniversary Silver Jubilee class, active in the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance and is passionately driven to ensure excellence in post-acute care and putting a smile on the faces of those she is blessed to serve.

Margarita Basch grew up in Panama and has lived in Brunswick for over 20 years. She loves her work as an Operations Analyst in the banking industry and her side gigs as a Zumba fitness instructor and travel agent, and a grandmother to three beautiful girls. She is focused on personal fitness activities, stand-up paddle boarding, and investing time with family & friends. Traveling and immersing herself in other cultures is also a passion of hers, finding great places to enjoy wonderful food & wine, as well as ballroom dancing, hiking, and getting to a great beach. 

Sara Golias, born in Costa Rica, relocated to Ohio in 1978. The mother of James and the wife of Bernie Golias, a local Clevelander, her passion has always been dancing; a passion which she channeled through teaching dance based formats, such as Jazzercise and Zumba for the past 25 years. She currently teaches Zumba at Rise Fitness in Medina and at the Brunswick Recreation Center.

Catherine Wahl lives in Brunswick with her fantastic husband of 33 years and has two recently married daughters. She has her MBA from Baldwin-Wallace and is currently the Marketing/Communications Manager at ID Images. She is a licensed Realtor and a certified Zumba instructor. In her spare time she loves to experiment with recipes-one of her specialties is a “damn” good risotto.

Fred and Ashley Krause are high school sweethearts who crossed paths at their hometown ice rink over 15 years ago.  A hockey player and an ice skater went on a date and the rest is history!  Both extremely passionate about making a difference in their community,  Ashley is the Executive Director at The Children’s Center of Medina County and Fred is the Business Developer at Turfscape.  Fred and Ashley recently welcomed baby girl Stella Jean and they enjoy spending time at the beach and hanging out with Stella. Fred and Ashley are very excited to participate in Dancing with the Medina Stars! They are eager for the wonderful professionals at Dance d’Elegance to boost their confidence on the dance floor.

Roseanna and Dave Markiewicz have lived in Spencer for over 19 years. Dave is a Cement Mason and Roseanna is a nurse. They have three children and eight beautiful grandchildren that call them Pa Pa and Mum Mum. Their dance journey started many years ago at Dance d’Elegance. They loved dancing so much that they took more lessons and share It’s a great date night every week. In their spare time they enjoy the great outdoors, riding ATV’s, walking or target practicing. 

Lauren Lynne is fairly new to ballroom dancing, but has been an active contra dancer for the past seven years. Lauren works at Community Fund Ohio, a company that creates and maintains trusts and grants for people with disabilities and special needs. In her free time, she loves hiking, a day out on the shooting range, writing, traveling, and of course dancing.

Colton Kemp grew up in Brunswick as the eldest of 4 boys and now lives in Medina with his fiancé, Aleece. He graduated from the University of Akron with 2 bachelor’s degrees, one in Mechanical Engineering and another in Biomedical Engineering. He works as an Electrical Engineer for Stanley Black and Decker at what used to be MTD. Colton divides his time learning public speaking and as a martial artist in which he has practiced for over 18 years, he is a 4^th degree black belt, and a Taekwondo master and instructor. He joined ballroom dance to get out of his comfort zone and have fun. Lauren & Colton are excited to be part of Dancing with the Stars and hopes to help make the night fun for everyone.

Debbie, known to many as “The Cookie Peddler” which served as her home based cookie business for 12+ years prior to hanging up side gig for profit when Covid rolled in. Now baking & cooking are strictly for fun and serve as her “superpower”. Debbie joyfully serves our Medina Bees as secretary to the Medina County School District Community Relations Director.

Terry is a “seasoned” Banker with Huntington National Bank and provides 20+ years experience in residential mortgages to clients. He joined Huntington in 2018. In his spare time you will find Terry (a.k.a. Homer) in the rain, sleet or shine on the golf course or at home with Debbie (a.k.a. Marge) and their boys. They have been married for 25 years and have 2 children, Ty & Grant. They are both stepping out of their comfort zones to dance, but they believe in the Senior & Adult Foundation and are dedicated to our Medina County Community!
